Bartholomew Ryan is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Universidade Nova de Lisbon writing a book on Pessoa and Kierkegaard, as well as editing two volumes on “The Plurality of the Subject in Nietzsche and Pessoa”. He has taught at Bard College of Berlin, Universidade de Lisboa, Oxford, and University of Aarhus. He studied at Aarhus University (Phd), Trinity College Dublin (MA), University College Dublin (BA). He has written extensively on modern philosophy, with special emphasis on Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and critical theory, as well as on modernist literature, especially in Fernando Pessoa and James Joyce.
