The Wax Shop was founded by Tanya Lisitsa, a Russian-trained aesthetics professional in European methodology in her native Kiev, Ukraine. Tanya came to Los Angeles in 1989 to pursue the American dream by offering these well respected European beauty techniques in the United States. Her nine years of gaining invaluable customer service experience in salons, followed by four years in the hospitality industry, convinced Tanya that her European approach to hair removal was superior to ordinary methods. She obtained her California aesthetics license in just two months and spent several years applying these highly effective techniques in Los Angeles beauty salons where she gained a loyal following.
