Brian earned his PhD in Philosophy at Purdue in 2019 and his MA at the University of Memphis in 2007. He wrote his dissertation Conscience and Moral Psychology in Rousseau and the German Idealist tradition. His current project concerns how continental philosophy's under-appreciated discussions of opera raise problems for formalism in the philosophy of music. He's also written on Heidegger's treatment of the poetry of Georg Trakl.
