C. E. Emmer

C. E. Emmer earned a PhD in philosophy at Stony Brook University (New York) after extensive studies in Germany as a fellow of the Collegium Philosophiae Transatlanticum. His research concentrates on aesthetics, particularly the question of "kitsch" and issues surrounding Immanuel Kant's theories of the beautiful, the sublime, and art. He currently teaches at Emporia State University in Kansas (USA), where his favorite courses are aesthetics and "Slavery, Revolution, and God" (nineteenth-century philosophy); most recently he developed a new non-Western philosophy course. He also has experience in the New York City art and theater world.
