I’m an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of the South (Sewanee). My research focuses on the intersections of metaphysics and biology in Ancient Greek thought. In particular, my work examines Aristotle’s concepts of life and death and how they are grounded in his ontology of potentiality and activity. My book project, tentatively entitled Aristotle’s Concept of Life: Essence and Activity, examines Aristotle’s approach to defining life in light of its immense diversity and its tricky edge cases.
