I am a philosophy Professor working at Northern Illinois University. Prior to NIU, I taught at Illinois Wesleyan University, for ten years, after graduating from Rutgers University.

My areas of research are philosophy of mind/psychology/neuroscience, the metaphysics in science, and philosophy of science. I have published widely, but primarily on reduction and emergence; compositional models, explanations and relations in the sciences; multiple realization; and levels in the sciences; amongst other topics.
