My research focuses on the nature of understanding and especially the role of language, communication, and dialogue in understanding. I work primarily out of the tradition of hermeneutic phenomenology. I am the author of two monographs: "Words Underway: Continental Philosophy of Language" (Rowman and Littlefield International, 2019) and "Gadamer and the Social Turn in Epistemology" (SUNY Press, 2024). I am Professor of Philosophy at Florida Gulf Coast University.
