Chris Abel is the author of numerous publications on the built environment, culture and identity formation and has taught at universities around the world; latterly at the University of Sydney and the University of Ulster, Belfast, where he was Honorary Visiting Professor. In 2017 his book, The Extended Self: Architecture, Memes and Minds, published by Manchester University Press (2015), was awarded the International Committee of Architectural Critics Bruno Zevi Book Award by unanimous verdict of an international jury.
