I have been an Associate Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela since 1993. I got my PhD in 1989 at the University of Valencia (Supervisor Beneyto) During that period, I worked for several months with Dag Prawitz in Stockholm and at the Logic Group of the Swedish Tellecom, Ellemtel. I have taught different subjects in logic and analytic philosophy. My publications include a manual for teaching logic (with J.L. Falguera) papers, book chapters and reviews. I have taught different subjects in logic and analytic philosophy. My publications include a manual for teaching logic (with J.L. Falguera) papers, book chapters and reviews. Among them: El estatuto epistemológico de la Lógica (Técnos 2007), Normativity and its Vindication: The Case of Logic (Theoria 2004), "Leon Henkin the Reviewer"(with J. P. Úbeda in Manzano et alt. Springer 2014), "Putnam and contemporary fictionalism" (THEORIA 2018), “Description, Explanation and Ontological Commitment” (with Navia Rivas, Springer 2020), “Quinean Lightweight Objects” (Springer 2025). I have systematized arguments for and against abstract objects in different domains (Falguera & Martínez-Vidal, 2020 “Preface”), and recent ways of formulating the concrete/ abstract distinction. (Rosen, Falguera, Martínez-Vidal, Abstract Objects, SEP, first version 2021, substantial revision 2025), "Proofs, computers and the a priori" (Metaphilosophy 2025), "Inferentialism naturalized and anti-exceptionalism about logic" (Synthese 2025 with García-Arnaldos) and García-Arnaldos, D., Martínez-Vidal, C. & Ranalli, C. Naturalism: Deep Disagreement or Metalinguistic Negotiation? (Acta Analytica 2025). I have participated in many conferences, including the following invited talks in the last three years: “Do we need to fix the concept of proof?”, Circle-U Conference, King’s College, London 28-29/10,2024; “Nuevas herramientas y viejos conceptos en la práctica matemática”, 30/05/2024XXV Congrés de la Societat de Filosofía del País Valencià; "Platonismo matemático" at the XXI Seminari Anual de la Secció de Filosofía Analítica de la Societat Catalana de Filosofía, 24/04/2024; “Nuevos usos y viejos conceptos en la práctica matemática ¿Necesitamos cambiar la noción de prueba?”, SWIP Analytic España /Universidad de La Laguna, Filósofas en Streaming 2024, 23/04/2024; Indispensabilidad y objetos livianos (à la Quine), Congreso fundacional de la Red Española de Metafísica (reM) 23/11/2022; “An alternative to fictionalism from a metaontologically-deflationist perspective. Still a fictionalist answer?” (University of York), Workshop on Structuralism and Fictionalism in mathematical Practice, 27/05/2022. I have edited several books, among them Abstract Objects. For and Against (with José L. Falguera, Springer 2020), and Deflationist conceptions of Abstract Objects (with Xavier de Donato and José L. Falguera, Springer 2025). I have overseen 5 research projects financed by the Spanish Ministries of Education and Science as researcher in charge, and participated in eight as a member of the research team. The last project I was responsible for (together with Xavier de Donato) was the MINECO financed project "Deflationist Views in Ontology and Metaontology" (PID2020-114350RJ-I00). I am currently responsible for the “Red de Filosofía de la Ciencia” (RED2022-134145-T, June 2023-May 2025) financed by the National Agency of Research, that includes eight Spanish research groups (Logosphilosophy of Science (UB), Metis (UNED), CTS (CSIC), VLC_LAB-Philosophy of Science (UV), HUM17 (US), Biokonos (UCM), IAS-Research (UPV), and EPISTEME-Philosophy of Science (USC)). Since 2014 I am in charge for the research group EPISTEME (USC) financed by the Xunta de Galicia (2023-2025, 90.000euros). I have organized conferences and workshops with other members of the group. Among them the X SEFA conference (Santiago de Compostela December 2022, 14-16), the VII Conference of the Spanish Society for Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science (Santiago de Compostela, July, 2012). In that conference, I was appointed President of the Society (until November 2018). I was an assessor for the DLMPST Council between 2020-2023. I have also been Chair of the Dept. of Logic and Moral Philosophy, and a member of the scientific committees for various conferences organized by national and international scientific societies. I have participated in assessment committees (ANEP, ANECA, EURIAS Fellowships, etc.) and tutored a "Parga Pondal" Fellow (Javier de Donato-Rodríguez), 2 Juan de la Cierva Fellows (Matteo Plebani and Victor Verdejo), 5 predoctoral grants (FPU: Navia Rivas, Ismael Ordóñez, Violeta Conde, Alejandro Gracia, and Pablo Valencia) and a Margarita Salas Research Contract (Andrea Nuñez Casal). I have supervised 4 PhDs (with de Donato-Rodríguez, Mary Leng, José Ferreirós and Javier Cumpa) and I am currently supervising two more. I have reviewed several papers for international journals, I am currently a member of the Editorial team for the Journal AGORA, and editor for the section “Philosophy of Logic” for the Journal Teorema).
