    This essay investigates Newton's thoughts on laws of nature. First, we argue that Newton’s experimental-philosophical methodology of hypotheses and queries exhibits a modal-exploratory nature. Second, this modal-exploratory character has immediate consequences for his metaphysics of laws of nature.
