David Walsh

University College Cork

David's research explores fruitful connections between East Asian philosophy (China and Japan), the philosophy of mind and cognition, and the philosophy of (non-)action. Grounded in the empirical sciences, particularly the phenomenon of entrainment, his work has drawn on the philosophies of Nishida Kitarō and Alva Noë, exploring how their perspectives offer a novel way to understand how action and cognition are situated within the world. Currently, David is thinking about Daoist metaphysics and their potential contributions to contemporary theories of embodied and enacted cognition.
