My research regards epistemological and ethical questions in biology, medicine, cognitive science, and the social sciences. In particular, much of my research concerns: a) the nature and nurture of complex phenotypes, such as human intelligence, mental disorders, and medical conditions; and b) the role of epistemic and non-epistemic values in shaping concepts and categories such as health, disease, addiction, race, ethnicity, and intelligence. I am also interested in technological innovation, sustainability, and open knowledge.
