He has worked at the University of London and Oxford teaching religious studies, philosophy and peace studies, and also at senior level as a secondary school teacher in religious studies, history and philosophy. He is a highly trained educator and scholar who has traveled and researched widely and who brings a truly international perspective to his academic work, having traveled and lectured in some 35 countries and has received several international awards for his work in education. Thomas combines a lifetime of advanced scholarship with peace activism and has coordinated International Philosophers and Historians for Peace and Global Responsibility for many years as well as running an academic Institute that specialises in peace research and the scientific study of comparative global philosophical and religious traditions (International Institute of Peace Studies and Global Philosophy). He has published over 60 books and is a published historian, philosopher, poet, religious studies and political studies expert and a specialist in interfaith and philosophical peace-making.
