I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I received my AB from Harvard and my PhD from UCLA.

My research concerns the nature of and prospects for rationalism in ethics. I am particularly interested in the kind of rationalism that takes its inspiration from Kant. I believe this rationalism has been misunderstood and so its virtues underappreciated.
