I am Professor Emerita of Philosophy at William & Mary. My research centers on Hume's theory of the passions and action and on his moral theory. I also have interests in the implications of Hume's theory of motivation for contemporary ethics and in practical reasoning, virtue ethics, and early modern theories of the emotions.
