Limited data exists that examines the reasons clinical ethics consultations in the healthcare industry are requested. To add to the literature, we have evaluated the reasons clinic ethics consults were requested at Indiana Health University (IUH) in 2023 to improve future patient care, identify quality improvement opportunities, educate fellow team members at IUH, as well as to inform research and address institutional policy changes. This information was identified through data collected using the REDCap Database and Cerner, the electronic medical record that is used at IUH. Our results show 170 ethics consultations were requested between the dates of January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, for adult patients, including inpatient and outpatient locations. Provider moral distress was identified to be the most frequent ethics issue that arose, along with patient best interest and decision-making capacity. The ethics consultation service at IUH has reviewed the data collected in this study and is actively working to improve ethics education opportunities for bedside team members, identifying recurrent ethical dilemmas, and improving the overall function of the ethics consultation service.

This chapter examines the growth of the food justice movement in Memphis and the Mid-South in light of the problem of food insecurity experienced in this region. Although food insecurity disproportionately affects low-income people of color, the good food movement is primarily led by white middle-class individuals. Drawing on critical race theory and liberation theologies, this paper offers a critique of (race and class) privilege within organizations dedicated to food justice and suggests that humility and solidarity are the key virtues needed for those working in the food justice movement from a position of white privilege and economic security. Humility shapes our self-understanding and ability to listen to others, while solidarity promotes the work of justice as an expression of love. The chapter concludes by arguing for the cultivation of these virtues through religious narratives, communities shaped by a diverse range of experience, and concrete, on-going practices of shared commitment.

ABSTRACTPreviously depressed individuals experience disturbances in affect. Affective disturbances may be related to visual mental imagery, given that imagery-based processing of emotional stimuli causes stronger affective responses than verbal processing in experimental laboratory studies. However, the role of imagery-based processing in everyday life is unknown. This study assessed mental imagery in the daily life of previously and never depressed individuals. Higher levels of visual mental imagery was hypothesised to be associated with more affective reactivity to both negatively and positively valenced mental representations.This study was the first to explore mental imagery in daily life using experience sampling methodology. Imagery is one of the new, exciting frontiers in cognitive therapy. From the outset of cognitive therapy, its founder Dr. Aaron T. Beck recognised the importance of imagery in the understanding and treatment of patient's problems. However, despite Beck's prescience, clinical research on imagery, and the integration of imagery interventions into clinical practice, developed slowly. It is only in the past 10 years that most writing and research on imagery in cognitive therapy has been conducted. The Oxford Guide to Imagery in Cognitive Therapy is a landmark book, which will play an important role in the next phase of cognitive therapy's development. Clinicians and researchers are starting to recognise the centrality of imagery in the development, maintenance and treatment of psychological disorders - for example, in social phobia, agoraphobia, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, childhood trauma, and personality disorder. In the fields of cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience, researchers are identifying the key role that imagery plays in emotion, cognition and psychopathology.The Oxford Guide to Imagery in Cognitive Therapy has been written both for clinicians and researchers. For clinicians, it is a user-friendly, practical guide to imagery, which will enable therapists to understand imagery phenomenology, and to integrate imagery-based interventions into their cognitive therapy practice. For researchers, it provides a state-of-the-art summary of imagery research, and points the way to future studies. Written by three well-respected CBT researcher-clinicians, it is essential reading for all cognitive therapists, who have recognised the limitations of purely 'verbal' CBT techniques, and want to find new ways to work with clients with psychological disorders. Involuntary autobiographical memories are typically discussed in the context of negative memories such as trauma ‘flashbacks’. However, IAMs occur frequently in everyday life and are predominantly positive. In spite of this, surprisingly little is known about how such positive IAMs arise. The trauma film paradigm is often used to generate negative IAMs. Recently an equivalent positive film was developed inducing positive IAMs. The current study is the first to investigate which variables would best predict the frequency of positive IAMs. Higher levels of positive mood change to the film were significantly associated with the number of positive IAMs recorded in the subsequent week. Results demonstrate the importance of positive emotional reaction at the time of an event for subsequent positive IAMs.
