I work in the history of philosophy, in political and social theory, and in metaphysics and ethics. My main current projects concern (1) Gassendi's defence of Epicurean hedonism and the scholarly editing of Gassendi's ethical writings and (2) testimony, belief, faith and knowledge in early modern European philosophy.
