Erich Hatala Matthes

I am Professor and Chair of Philosophy and Advisory Faculty for Environmental Studies at Wellesley College, where I teach courses in Moral Philosophy, Philosophy of Art, and Environmental Philosophy. My primary research interests concern the ethics, politics, and aesthetics of cultural heritage, art, and the environment. My second book What to Save and Why: Identity, Authenticity, and the Ethics of Conservation, was published by Oxford University Press in the fall of 2024.
