What is, what could, and what should be a speculative phenomenology? If, according to Fink, Husserl’s phenomenology was characterized by an “anti-speculative attitude”, we have to decide what “speculative” means here and if phenomenology can really take such an attitude. Rather than trying to lead phenomenology toward a speculative thinking that is “extrinsic” to it, we will try to find out in what sense phenomenology can find a speculative thinking that is, and remains, intrinsic to it, in a dimension characterized by a radical metaphysical neutrality. After showing that the phenomenological approach is per se “speculative”, namely in the more original and non-metaphysical (or metaphysically neutral) meaning of the ancient “The/ria”, I will outline four forms of such speculative phenomenology as forms of Mathesis. In the second part, I will present the basic concepts and theses towards a Mathesis of subjectivity as part of a phenomenological-speculative approach to forms of self-reference and to an existential dimension. In the third part, this approach will be integrated in a renewed form of meta-theoretical Mathesis as a new issue for the old phenomenological project of a theory of possible forms of theories. In the fourth part, I will focus on the deep relationship between a speculative nonmetaphysical approach to knowledge (theories) and the need to sketch a phenomenological meta-ontology (meta-ontological Mathesis). In the fifth and last part of the paper, I will present a general perspective inwhich the previous forms of Mathesis converge in a non- or metametaphysical questioning about reality.

Das grundsätzliche Fragen liegt immer und ständig dem Wissen zugrunde. Ein grundsätzliches Fragen ist notwendig, wenn man die Komplexität unserer Zeit und unserer Welt verstehen will. Was uns aber heutzutage fehlt, ist die Verbindung zwischen der elementaren Situation jedes grundsätzlichen Fragens und der inflationären Vervielfachung von Wissensformen und partiellen Theorien. Damit einhergehend verliert die Philosophie den Sinn der Form eines ersten Wissens (prôtê epistêmê) als vorrangige Form eines Denkens, das den Wissensformen Einheit geben und den Sinn des Wissens für den Menschen erschließen könnte. Das Buch zielt darauf ab, im Dialog mit der phänomenologischen sowie mit der analytischen Tradition eine neue Schau zu entwickeln, welche die elementare Situation der Frage nach dem Sinn und die Komplexität des Realen wieder miteinander in Verbindung bringt. Ausgehend von der Frage nach dem Sinn kommen Grundfragen in den Blick, welche, jede auf ihre Art und Weise, einen Horizont öffnen, in dem das Denken eine Erweiterung seines Verstehens erreicht: der Horizont der Metaegologie, der Metatheorie, der Metaontologie und zuletzt der Metametaphysik. Durch die Entwicklung der Korrespondenz zwischen Grundfragen und Horizonten des Denkens öffnet sich nicht nur die Perspektive einer Archäologie, sondern die Perspektive der Zukunft des Wissens.

À partir de la définition de la phénoménologie dans les Recherches logiques , Husserl revient systématiquement sur la définition des structures fondamentales de sa pensée dans ses cours à l’Université de Göttingen. Parmi ces cours, celui de logique de l’année 1902-1903 (Logik Vorlesung 1902/03) revêt une importance essentielle pour la définition de l’orientation de la phénoménologie vers le tournant « transcendantal ». En commentant les textes de trois paragraphes fondamentaux de ce cours, ceux qui traitent du lien entre la théorie de la signification et la théorie de la modification, on a essayé de voir comment et selon quelles lignes thématiques directrices la théorie des actes de modification donne à la phénoménologie une première orientation transcendantale. Le couple conceptuel « expression/significa­tion » , dont la définition est tirée explicitement de la première Recherche , représente le terminus a quo d’un travail conceptuel qui mènera à la défi­nition du couple « signification/syntaxe » . Ce dernier, relevant directement de la théorie des actes de modification, ne se laisse pas enfermer dans l’horizon thématique de la quatrième Recherche logique mais se révèle, par sa richesse et sa complexité thématique, déjà orienté vers un autre stade de la recherche phénoménologique, qui anticipe (et esquisse) le tournant transcendantal

Le dedans intentionnel (das intentionnale Innen) est en même temps le dehors (Aussen). (E. Husserl, Intentionnalité et être-au-monde, Hua. XV, p. 549-556 (§ 8), tr. fr. in D. Janicaud (éd.), L?intentionnalité en question entre phénoménologie et recherches cognitives, Paris, Vrin, p. 145.) En introduisant l?enracinement de l?expérience (et surtout de la logique) dans « le sol universel du monde », Husserl affirme, de façon très claire, dans Expérience et jugement , que « toute saisie d?objet singulier et toute activité ultérieure de connaissance se jouent sur le sol du monde, ce fait indique quelque chose de plus que le caractère qu?a cette activité d?être dirigée vers le domaine de ce qui est pré-donné dans la certitude passive » 1 . Ensuite, Husserl s?exprime ? en italiques ? de façon bien plus nette, comme s?il voulait formuler une sorte de principe : « Toute expérience a son horizon propre » 2 . Lorsqu?on travaille en phénoménologie au décryptage des structures qui président à notre approche à la phénoménalité, on est toujours constitu­tivement appelé à se placer à un méta-niveau, consistant dans la réflexion spéculative sur la phénoménologie, c?est-à-dire sur ses points problématiques fondamentaux et sur ses principes de base. Cela équivaut à affirmer que l?approche descriptive de la phénoménologie doit toujours être implémentée, malgré nos penchants pour la description pure

The emergence of complexity as an epistemological property of certain phenomena changed our idea of phenomenality. But, except from very technical approaches to epistemology, it has not been adopted by philosophical research. In any case, the large revolution the idea and the method of investigation of complex systems have lead to in science does not have an influence on the contemporary debate about realism in philosophy. In my paper I give a quick definition of the mutual relations between the philosophical problem of reality on the one side and the scientific issues of complexity theory on the other side. Further, I develop a realistic approach to complexity by the idea of meta-ontological modeling grounded upon a realistic background. That is to say that an approach to complexity of phenomena as such does never deny its basic strong certitude of reality. In this way a philosophical approach to complexity can provide a synthesis between constructivism and realism.
