The way I see it, a philosophical theory is what gives one psychological comfort by providing a rigid framework to frame open-ended practices as deterministic.
Good philosophy, on the other hand, makes you realize that philosophy has nothing to offer to real problems in life, and instead force you to see problems as they are, and remind you that you are a human who navigates the world as a human.
