Frank A. Stengel

Frank A. Stengel is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Kiel University, Germany, and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin. His research focuses on political and sociological theories, in particular poststructuralist discourse theory, International Political Sociology, German and US foreign policy, and populism. His work has been published in, among others, Critical Studies on Security, International Feminist Journal of Politics, and International Peacekeeping. He is the author of The Politics of Military Force: Antimilitarism, Ideational Change and Post-War German Security Discourse (Ann Arbor: University of Michigan Press, 2020), and co-editor of Populism and World Politics: Exploring Inter- and Transnational Dimensions (Basingstoke: Palgrave MacMillan, 2019) as well as a special issue on ‘The Contribution of Laclau’s Discourse Theory to International Relations and International Political Economy’ (New Political Science, 2019).
