685Book Review: Edward R. Branigan, "Point of View in The Cinema: A Theory of Narration and Subjectivity in Classical Film." (review)Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism 45 (3): 309-311. 1987.This book review describes and analyzes the basic ideas in Edward Branigan's book POINT OF VIEW IN THE CINEMA. The review points out the importance of the topic, as well as the various kinds of POV shots used in film "language." Although a few (relatively minor) challenges are raised, for the most part this review proclaims Branigan's encyclopedic treatment of POV to be EXTREMELY valuable to cinema scholars and students alike. So much so that I recommend further research on the subject matter.
