Through aesthetics, I argue that these neglected aspects of thinking can enhance our capacities for critical and creative thinking.
Critical thinking has predominantly been understood from a positivist perspective in which rational thinking is reduced to inferences that draw conclusions from empirical observations or analytically true premises. This understanding of critical thinking overlooks significant aspects of thinking, such as emotions, feelings, senses, and imagination. I argue that these elements should be considered integral to critical thinking.
I am also working as a tutor at the University of Waikato.
