After receiving an M.A. in Philosophy from The University of California at Berkeley, I joined the Kaiser Foundation Research Institute as Assistant Director in basic research on the metabolism of primitive organisms. I then switched to electronics, becoming President of Berkeley Instruments Corporation and receiving three patents for digital data systems. For the past 27 years i have been a senior member of the technical staff of Apple Inc., where i have written several books on computer technology.
