I am a doctoral candidate working on the ethics of migration at the Institute of Philosophy, KU Leuven (RIPPLE). My research examines the relevance of colonial legacies for the moral authority of states to control immigration. Can colonial legacies be theorised as an ongoing injustice in migration, and if so, how? Should former colonial activities limit the right of states to determine their migration policies? And how might answers to these questions help us understand which exclusionary borders matter in contemporary debates?
