I'm interested in teleology, biological individuality, and ethics in the life sciences (among other things.) Currently, my research focuses on developing a naturalistic theory of goal-directed systems, while my teaching provides a foundational overview of topics in ethics as they are relevant to the life sciences. My research and teaching intersect in thinking about which natural systems might be teleological and how ethical frameworks might be thought about within them.
