I am a philosopher at the University of Manchester. My research mainly focuses on philosophical issues in medicine and psychiatry. I also have wider interests in philosophy of mind and philosophy of science. Before my career in philosophy, I trained and worked as a psychiatrist in the National Health Service.
I have a PhD in philosophy from Lancaster University, an MPhil in philosophy and ethics of mental health from the University of Pretoria, an MB BChir in medicine and a BA (Hons) in history and philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge, and an MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
