Francisco de Asís Masferrer y Arquimbau forma parte de una generación de filósofos que propiciaron la transmisión de la filosofía del sentido común desarrollada oralmente por Francisco Javier Llorens y Barba en una generación posterior, que ya la recibió como la filosofía más adecuada al carácter catalán. Masferrer, pero, aunque se dice seguidor fiel del maestro, introduce aún más el interés por hacer concordar la filosofía del sentido común con la escolástica. Una nota exclusiva de la filosofía del sentido común de Masferrer es el interés por introducir la tradición mística española en el contenido de sus cursos.

Metaphors for memory is understood here the different conceptions of our recent researchers face more a issue of long tradition more issue of tradition. Do not enter, then, in classic positions masterfully exposed by the masters Greek, Latin and medieval, but is intended to make a very brief epistemological approach in the most recent positions. After a review from some research in the field of biology and neuroscience, highlighting some of the most outstanding work of innovation laboratories and research teams, we enter in the models which used teachers of social science. Thus, we speak of memory as a set of molecules, as a warehouse, as a switchboard or as an event. All these models have been used to serve or attempt to explain one of the most admired human faculties.

Over the course of the 19th century, a new field of publishing would appear: that of school textbooks. Although classes had seen textbooks before, it would be over the course of an entire century that they would gain a huge foothold in schools. This article studies the school textbooks of a generation, that of 1817, and focuses on one figure: that of the Catalan thinker Jaume Balmes. Coverage is given to the first textbooks on grammar, rhetoric and philosophy to be used in classes at the Vic Seminary, books that not only allow us to understand the education of said philosopher and the methods of an educational institution, but which also show us the ideological resources of an entire epoch and culture.
