My research and teaching interests span moral philosophy, value theory, and environmental philosophy. In recent years, I've focused my work on theories of practical reason, with special attention to the structure of our evaluative attitudes, the variety of practical reasons, and defenses of pluralism. I also have a long-standing interest in how philosophy can illuminate, and offer tools for addressing, the normative challenges posed by climate change and other environmental issues.

I received the 2012 Holmes Rolston III Early Career Essay Prize for my article “Historical Environmental Values” (published in Environmental Ethics, Spring 2013).
