Jairo has a degree in Biology from the National Pedagogical University (Colombia). He holds a master's in History, Philosophy, and Science Teaching from the Federal University of Bahia and the State University of Feira de Santana, Brazil, and a Ph.D. in History, Philosophy, and Science Teaching as well as a Ph.D. in Education from the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education (UDFJC-Colombia) in joint supervision agreement. Research experience in the fields of ethnobiology and science education, ethnoecology and conservation, intercultural science education, and philosophy of biology.
