Jakub Jonkisz

Jakub Jonkisz is adjunct lecturer at the University of Bielsko-Biala, Poland, where he teaches philosophy, logic and decision theory. He received an MA in philosophy from the Jagiellonian University, Cracow, where he continued with postgraduate studies in Cognitive Science. After submitting a dissertation entitled Consciousness and qualia: a neurophilosophical perspective, he gained a PhD from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin. Apart from consciousness studies and lecturing, he is keenly involved in sport, as a competitor (in mountain biking and alpine skiing) and coach for the University of Bielsko-Biala ski team. His primary area of research centres on the problem of consciousness, as well as dealing with the philosophy of mind more generally. He is also deeply interested in possible applications of consciousness studies to sport (e.g. the role of consciousness in complex motor-skill acquisition).
