My interests include early modern philosophy, ethics, and moral psychology. I am currently investigating how Cartesian philosophers approach questions about the best sort of life to live and the way individuals are situated in relation to others. More precisely, I focus on how happiness is the ultimate end for the Cartesian subject, as part of a larger whole. However, to expand my understanding outside of the European early modern canon, I am actively looking at other approaches to happiness in the writings of Persian Peripatetic philosophers, especially in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
