It focuses on the central epistemological aspects of the personalist criticism of modern rationalism, absolute idealism, and pantheism, and on the personalist alternative’s reinterpretation of the concept of the subject in terms of the concept of the person.

Finally, it introduces briefly some larger historical and comparative perspectives on personalism that have hitherto been absent in its scholarly treatment.
