Jan Forsman

Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy, previously at the University of Iowa (2022-2024), currently at Tampere University, Finland. My work focuses on metaphysics and epistemology in early modern philosophy, particularly in philosophical skepticism and theories of free will. My current research is on the skeptical influence of early modern women philosophers, particularly Teresa of Ávila, Margaret Cavendish, and Mary Shepherd. I am also interested in the interconnections between historical skepticism and contemporary epistemology. Lately, I have likewise began researching history and philosophy of paleontology, specifically early modern scientific understanding of fossils. In my spare time I tend to watch movies, listen to music, read some good books, write something of my own, and play a bit of basketball.
