Jelena Belic

I am a political philosopher with a background in international law and political science. My research is in normative political theory and I work mainly on global (and climate) justice and human rights. Within these areas (and beyond them), I am thinking about a variety of problems including the role of formal and informal institutions in practical reasoning, natural duties of justice, philosophical foundations of human rights, normative underpinnings of international relations, philosophy of (international) law. Besides political philosophy, I am also passionate about teaching, which I understand as thinking together with my students. In particular, I am interested in pedagogical approaches that help students develop and enhance their critical thinking skills. I obtained my PhD in political philosophy from the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) in 2018. Currently, I am a lecturer in political theory at the Institute of Political Science, Leiden University.
