My research focuses on historical and philosophical issues that arise in different areas of biological and cognitive sciences. First, my works concentrate on the concepts of mechanism, explanation, and models, which have been central to the New Mechanism. Second, I am also interested in issues that arise in artificial intelligence, neuroscience, and cognitive science by investigating a variety of philosophical concepts: computation, learning, and evolution. In order to analyze those concepts within both scientific fields, I use a mathematical framework from the structural point of view with category theory.
