Regarding anthropology, I am interested in the study of primate behavior, ecology, and evolution. I am particularly interested in studying gibbon and orangutan social structure and conservation, chiefly concerning their habitat destruction caused by the market demand for palm oil and rubber. My interests in philosophy are not divorced from my anthropological interests, particularly in terms of my interest in the human-primate relationship. I am also interested in existential philosophy, specifically thinkers such as Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Sartre, Levinas, Derrida, and Camus. My interests in philosophy are not divorced from my anthropological interests, particularly in terms of my interest in the human-primate relationship. I am also interested in existential philosophy, specifically thinkers such as Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Sartre, Levinas, Derrida, and Camus. While existentialism concerns itself with the nature of being human, certainly to be human is to be a primate. I believe that by considering human evolutionary history, our relation to primates, and primates themselves new doors of philosophical thought can be opened, thus offering an exciting way to approach existentialism.
As of recent, I have been particularly interested in animals understanding of death and dying.
