John A.L. Machielsen

Currently, I am a lecturer in business ethics, marketing and technology at the Academy for Creative Industries, part of Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg, the Netherlands. My research focus lies at the intersection of American pragmatism, ethics, (metaphorical) language, and philosophy of mind and 4E cognitive science. I am particularly interested in the concepts of habit and moral imagination, and how ongoing evolution of the human environment (by natural and cultural evolutionary forces) shapes them. Furthermore, I have a special interest in enactivism and ecological psychology and how this research informs our conceptualization of ethics and language. The implications from my research interests inform my educational approach of business ethics and marketing.
