I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the philosophy department at the University of Virginia. My dissertation explores a variety of issues in Aristotle's Categories (and, to some extent, throughout the Organon), including the nature of universals, the nature of non-substantial individuals, the status of secondary substances, and the ontological priority of primary substances.
In addition to my dissertation, I've done some work on virtue epistemology and the nature of understanding, as well as some work defending an immanent theory of universals. More generally, I try to maintain active research interests in contemporary epistemology and metaphysics.

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the philosophy department at the University of Virginia.
Besides these research interests, I have strong teaching interests throughout the history of philosophy, including the medieval and early modern periods. I also enjoy teaching the philosophy of religion, and have a course on metaphysical and ethical issues surrounding death.
Outside of philosophy, I enjoy reading speculative fiction, listening to punk rock and soul, and working out.
