I am Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at York U in Toronto. I have previously held positions at the University of Edinburgh, Wayne State University, and NYU; and a visiting position at the University of Toronto.
Much of my research focuses on the history of modern philosophy, especially David Hume’s philosophy. In recent years, I’ve been trying to put Hume into dialogue with contemporary work in epistemology and the philosophy of mind, especially on the topics of inference and inferential justification.
My work has appeared in The Philosophical Review, the Journal of the History of Philosophy, and Ergo, among other venues.

My current projects include a monograph on Hume’s philosophy; a collection of new papers on Spinoza, Hume and Shepherd, which I’m co-editing with Aaron Garrett, and for which I’m writing a paper on Shepherd’s epistemology; and a paper on justification from fallacious inferences.
