Joshua D.F. Hooke

My name is Joshua Fahmy-Hooke, and I am a Ph.D. candidate at Memorial University in Canada, specializing in phenomenology and metaphysics. Under the supervision of Professor Sean McGrath, my dissertation, Heidegger’s Concept of Truth: The Guiding Force of Alētheia, explores the genesis of truth as the disclosure of time. I provide a systematic elaboration of truth by examining the Freiburger Vorlesungen (1919-1923, 1928-1944) and the Marburger Vorlesungen (1923-1929). By doing so, I present an expansive and defensible notion of truth as Alētheia, contextually substantiating what remains as an abbreviated version of truth in §44 of Being and Time (Dasein, Disclosedness, and Truth).
