I am a doctoral candidate (ABD) at Indiana University working on the theory of criminal culpability with Marcia Baron, Matthew Adams, Timothy O'Connor, and Nicholas Almendares. In my dissertation, I develop an account of the necessary conditions of rightful criminal culpability by arguing ought to track, primarily, improper regard or disrespect for others. I use this account to discuss problems in criminal negligence, diligence, hate crimes, and overcriminalization in the context of democratic slippage.
