The Triggering Brain is a new, purely materialistic, approach to understand brain function. It is based on the assumption that the brain's original task is the measurement and management of equilibrium between the organism and its environment in terms of favorable conditions for live. The hypothesis leads to an understanding of the representation of neuronal information and its processing, including the generation of the "self". It guides to a better understanding of the so called "easy problem", and to some extend delivers new insights about approaching consciousness.
