Dr Jytte Holmqvist has a PhD in Screen and Media Culture and Literature in Spanish from the School of Languages and Linguistics, University of Melbourne, Australia. Her thesis examines the cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and (late) Ventura Pons from an urban, postmodern perspective. Multilingual, a certified translator, editor, and liaison interpreter, she has lived in 6 countries to date and her academic trajectory has seen her go from a focus primarily on Spanish and Italian film to taking an interdisciplinary interest in philosophical and existentialist queries and discourses; including in art that crosses boundaries and breaks new ground. Her thesis examines the cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and (late) Ventura Pons from an urban, postmodern perspective. Multilingual, a certified translator, editor, and liaison interpreter, she has lived in 6 countries to date and her academic trajectory has seen her go from a focus primarily on Spanish and Italian film to taking an interdisciplinary interest in philosophical and existentialist queries and discourses; including in art that crosses boundaries and breaks new ground. She is Senior Lecturer in Spanish at Lund University, Sweden, has been elected President of the Hispanic Society of Victoria (est. 1952), and serves as Communications Officer for ALELD (The Australia Latam Emerging Leaders Dialogue).
