Kate Nicole is in her final year as a PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests revolve around understanding and reimagining the human-nature relationship, especially as applied to conservation, climate change, and animal ethics. Her dissertation proposes an ameliorative project aimed at the reconceptualization of nature and naturalness, where nature is conceived of in terms of reciprocity. In addition to her interests in environmental philosophy, she has worked on questions of animal consciousness, particularly on the possibility of mental disorders in animals.
