I’m a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy, SU, and an affiliated researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies. I hold a PhD (fil.dr) in practical philosophy. I defended my doctoral thesis Democracy and the Common Good: A Study of the Weighted Majority Rule at Stockholm University in 2013. Since then I’ve held postdoctoral positions at Stockholm University and at the Institute for Futures Studies, where I have worked in different research projects on implicit bias, discrimination, the concept of harm, the boundary problem in democratic theory, and climate ethics and future generations. I have published in international peer-reviewed journals and anthologies on the topics of discrimination, implicit bias, #metoo, social norms, democracy, collective decision-making, the non-identity problem, and fairness.
My current research seeks to improve our understanding of large-scale structural injustices and their relation to small-scale individual biases, such as implicit biases (roughly, automatically activated prejudices against social groups). I employ insights and tools from game-theory and social epistemology to model various micro-to-macro dynamics and feedback loops. Such models can generate novel testable hypotheses for the social sciences, and in the long run help us find new ways to address social problems of inequality and structural discrimination.
