I am Associate Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University, where I have worked since 2009. I specialise in the work of Martin Heidegger, and I am interested in questions about the logic and ontology of sense-making, the role of human finitude in it, and the possibility of world-collapse. I also maintain an enduring interest in Ancient Greek philosophy, including Heidegger's readings of Aristotle and the pre-Socratics.

I received my PhD from The University of Chicago, where I worked primarily with Jonathan Lear and John Haugeland.

I live in Woodley Park in Washington DC, and I hail from Whangaparaoa in Aotearoa New Zealand.
