My research is mainly in philosophy of mind and cognitive science. I am best known for defending illusionism about consciousness, which is the view that phenomenal properties are introspective illusions, and I am currently developing what I call the reactivity theory of consciousness. I have also written on the nature of belief, dual-process theories of reasoning, and cognitive theories of psychopathology. I edit the Cambridge Elements series in Philosophy of Mind.
