Hello! I am a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Villanova University who spends most of their time thinking about mind, metaphysics, and the history of science in the early modern period. I focus on the philosophy of Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle (1623-1673), and my dissertation is titled “Margaret Cavendish’s Metaphysics of Action”. It argues that Margaret Cavendish's conception of action is shaped by her concepts of sympathy and antipathy, which sheds light on her theories of freedom, causation, and materiality.
I also organize a Cavendish reading and research group. Feel free to join us by visiting our website!
