Litianyi Zhao

I'm a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki working primarily in the analytic-feminist tradition. My research focuses on non-ideal inquiries concerning justice, equality, well-being, and meaning in life, with particular interests in their moral and political dimensions.

My PhD project, "Well-Being from Within and Below," explores the normative and institutional significance of narrative self-understanding for individual well-being. By bringing together narrative ethics with social epistemology and the philosophy of well-being, the project examines how individuals' opportunities to make sense of their lives are shaped by conditions of inequality, marginalization, and failures of adequate socio-political recognition.
